Pradesh Mahila Cong convention at Leh

LEH, July 3: Pradesh Mahila Congress president, Indu Pawar (MLA) has said that Congress party was committed for the upliftment of women, poor and down- trodden members of the society and provide justice to the people of all the three regions of the State.
Addressing first ever Mahila Congress convention here today, the Pradesh Mahila Congress chief asked the women activists to come forward and actively participate in the political activities in the region. She said that in view of the coming elections they should gear up their activities and project the demands of the locals before higher authorities so that their issues could be resolved.
Ms Pawar appealed the women cadre of the party to strengthen the secular forces and the Congress party, which itself is the symbol of secularism. She said Government has launched various welfare schemes to provide assistance for the upliftment of women, children, downtrodden, destitute, SCs/STs, and Other Backward Classes. These schemes are aimed at ameliorating their socio-economic status. She said with the liberal funding the Central Government has been trying to raise the economic condition of the people of this State.
Former Minister Mohd Shrief Niaz (MLA), senior leader Ghulam Nabi Monga (MLC), Chairman of Leh Hill Development Council Rigzin Spalbar, several Executive Councillors and Mahila Congress district president Rinchen Dolkar were also present. They also spoke on the occasion. Block president Tsering Samphel was also present and she projected issues of the women workers of the party.
