JAMMU, July 3: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu, Puneet Gupta today framed corruption charges against Yoginder Saproo, the then Executive Engineer (retired as Superintending Engineer), Farooq Ahmed Tak, the then AEE Doda (presently AEE Electric Estate Jammu), Saral Singh Manhas, presently AEE Maintenance Division Doda and Tariq Hussain, presently JE Maintenance Division Batote for misappropriation of Rs 16,14,784.
According to the challan, on the basis of source information regarding large scale bungling in utilization of public funds meant for construction of 33/11 KV receiving station-II Dallaina, Bhaderwah in the year 2004-05, a joint surprise check was conducted.
During the surprise check, it came to fore that an amount of Rs 170.87 lakh was released for execution of these works. On test checking and inspection of the civil works vis-à-vis land leveling of receiving station Dallaian Bhaderwah, construction of breast wall and drain at Upper Terrace, construction of retaining wall along the roadside, construction of platform for equipment and so many others, it was found that the accused officials of the Electric Maintenance Sub-Transmission Division, Udhampur in league with each other made payments for non-executed works.
