JAMMU, Dec 24: In order to sensitize and bring about more awareness regarding environmental concerns among its employees, their family members and general masses, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, Northern Region Transmission System-II organized much acclaimed play of Natrang “Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop Kahan Hai” at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu .
The play was organized as a part of Power Grid’s Swaach Bharat Campaign. Anil Jain, Executive Director (NRTS-II) was the chief guest on the occasion. Staged by Natrang artists, the play in a very sensitive manner depicted the hazards of population explosion and very subtly highlighted every deplorable aspect of population explosion.
The irony, which children have to live with, the obstacles they have to face, were brought out in an intrepid manner. Beginning with malnutrition inadequate food and clothing to seeking admissions in schools and overcrowded classes with no jobs and glaring shortcomings, practically every damaging result of overpopulation were dealt with. The play warned one and all with imminent threat of disaster and destruction if this malady is not immediately arrested.The play ended with thought provoking questions by children: Why we were brought into this world? And where is our share of sunlight?
This play of Natrang is considered to be the longest living play by children in India. The play written by Balwant Thakur for UNICEF on population/ environment education had stood best in India and later represented the country in Asia-Pacific meet in Bangkok, Thailand.
Besides, Anil Jain, SD Joshi, General Manager (Projects), B Dash AGM (F), R Narayan, CM (HR), senior officers from Power Grid Northern Region-II, their family members, leading persons from State administration, Natrang director, Balwant Thakur and many others were present on the occasion.
