JAMMU, Dec 24: While expressing gratitude to the MoS in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh for clarifying the package announced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has said that the State Government must issue fresh instructions to the Tehsildars/ Revenue officers not to harass DPs of 1947 and others and avoid taking forced affidavit from them.
In a meeting of the JKSAC members held at R S Pura today, the members expressed satisfaction over the statement of Dr Jitendra Singh, wherein, he has stated that PM Modi has reassured the DP’s of 1947 from PoK and other categories that Rs 5.5 lakh is the first installment but not the end. The DP’s in the meeting reiterated their demand that Tehsildars of the all the respective districts be designated powers to accept every record and submit the same for further process for disbursal under Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme.
While addressing the meeting jointly, Netar Prakash general secretary JKSAC along with Dwarka Nath, Nirmal Singh Kranti, Rajesh Khajuria and Balbir Singh, all members of district committee, appreciated Dr Singh for reaffirming his assurance of Rs 5.5 lakh as an installment being paid to DP’s and repeated assurance given by Prime Minister and Home Minister, that this is not the end and also expressed the magnanimity shown by PM to provide more funds for adequate relief /compensation to DP’s in lieu of their left over properties and termed this package as a great respite for DP’s after their 50 years long concerted struggle.
The refugee leader appealed the administration to make necessary arrangements to provide the required facility to DP’s at their door steps. He further appealed to the Govt to issue a notification to aware the DP’s not to fill up any kind of form application or affidavit at the behest of exploited till the final notification is issued regarding the modus operandi. He cautioned the DP’s not fall into trap of politicians and instead they should unite to achieve their target of one time settlement.
