Power curtailment affecting business, say Ware House traders

JAMMU, July 3: Traders Federation Ware House, Nehru Market here today rued power curtailment and appealed to the Governor to intervene as the problem is affecting their business.
The issue was discussed in a meeting of the Federation chaired by its president, Rattan Lal Mahajan.
The traders in the meeting flayed power curtailment-scheduled and unscheduled with Federation General Secretary, Deepak Gupta saying that after Darbar Move, PDD authorities resort to unscheduled power cuts.
“Power supply position was good when the secretariat was here,” he said adding that electricity is the basic need of traders and power curtailment is affecting their daily work.
He urged the Governor, Satya Pal Malik to ensure better power supply to the biggest wholesale market of Jammu as traders of this market are contributing towards the revenue generated on account of electricity and other taxes.
He said that GST is implemented in our State and e-way billing is compulsory for that but due to power cuts and low voltage, shopkeepers are unable to generate e-way bill which is bringing the wholesale mandi to stand still as due to voltage fluctuation, computers, printers and other electronic gadgets are damaged.
The traders demanded regular power supply to the market from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Dheeraj Gupta, Senior Vice President of Federation; Munish Mahajan, Vice President; Abhimanyu Gupta, Secretary and Vishal Gupta, Cashier were also present in the meeting.
