Sir,
I want to draw the attention of public and Government towards the Power crisis, works executed by ircon and recent damages to power lines, transformers and poles due to winds in Jammu and its adjoin areas. The HDVS structures erected under RAPDRP are unstable and unsafe due to overloading of PCC poles with carrying capacity of 200 kgs working load and factor of safety as 2.5. where as loads on poles are 450~500 kgs including eccentric load of distribution transformer, its supporting brackets, line load etc. where as REC specifications-15/1979 specifies that the average permanent load on poles should be 40 percent of the working load that comes to only 80 kgs against the applied load of 450~500 Kgs.
These HDVS structures are unstable that is why these structures are collapsing with winds of moderate intensities endangering the property andlife of public. Similarly the other materials like cables and transformers have been installed for a load less than the actual loads of the areas as a result cables and transformers gets damaged frequently resulting suffering of the public in general. It is impressed upon RAPDRP implementing authorities to look into the bottlenecks for minimizing losses of public property and redressal of public grievances to ensure uninterrupted/regular power supplies during peak hours.
Yours etc……..
