In the fast moving world, we the people of India are facingthe biggest Identity crises. On one hand we see the most developed part of India, which is no less than any projected dream world on earth and one the very next circumference we see the stark opposite of it. The India which we all are ashamed to be recognised for. Today when we dream of making India a dream destination for the world but at the same time we are forgetting to care for the Indians which are left at the mercy of Nature. The trend of the atmosphere is changing so dynamically that when an ordinary person just walks through the broken streets of India, the people who are sitting next to animals look nothing exceptional to us, but when the same thing is very brilliantly documented by BBC London or Hollywood Movie like “Slum Dog Millionaire” we Indians are confused at that point of time also whether to cheer for our INIDA, which finally got the lime light which it deserved or to cry for the helplessness because we Indians are not able to do anything productive for the forgotten brothers and sisters; for whom we pledged at some point in our school times that we will never forget our responsibility for them.
India being a highly populated country need to really understand where are we heading and what will be the futuristic results of the actions which we take like blind moves in the game of POKER. When we type literacy rate in India and the first link of Wikipedia shows that Indian literacy has moved drastically up to seventy four point zero four percent (74.04%) comparatively to mere twelve percent (12%) at the time of freedom or when British left us after looting us for two hundred years. These figures are an issue of debate within itself ,India’s own economist and Nobel Prize Laureate Mr. AmartyaSen was forced to challenge these unrealistic figures of Indian growth and commented that- “The progress of living standards for common people, as opposed to a favoured minority, has been dreadfully slow-so slow that India’s social indicators are still abysmal”. These heart wrenching comments by the Indigenous economist shows that the reality of India is hidden behind the veil of poverty just to cover the filth and show the world the India which we Indians want them to see but the tragedy is that world is shrinking into a much smaller village and the truth could not be hidden from one’s own mind and heart.
We have to accept that we have to do what is needed to be done and following the theme our Father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, we need be the change which we want to see in our own society .if we divide the problems of India categorically and just concentrate on the solutions systematically, nothing in this country looks impossible. We have the knowledge of VEDAS and power of spiritualism, which the world today admire us for. The world can take pride in the concrete high rise structures but when it comes to ancient and medieval world India is a treasure hunt in that case. So a firm affirmation and positive attitude is demanded from each Indian to contribute a bit for the co-Indians who are in a need today and if we all support these fellow Indians today (including me ) a day will come when India will have a potential and charismatic work force of multi million people. Indians are tolerant and loving by nature. But we need not to forget that we have this human resource which will rust out with time and when our demographic dividend will surpass after some more years this will change into a demographic liability of old and unproductive India. We are growing at the fastest rate but this growth has to be supplemented with ease of life and happiness, where we lag miles behind. According to United Nations World Happiness Index report India stands at one hundred and eighteenth (118) spot which is below Somalia (76), China (83), Pakistan (92), Iran (105), Palestinian Territories (108) and Bangladesh (110), more over India is ranked among the list of top ten countries which has witnessed the biggest happiness decline
So the time is ripe and the conditions are perfect to make changes within our selves, in the fast moving world Indians need to move a bit slow because we need time to re-evaluate ourselves and become action oriented rather than demand oriented. Let’s take a lead and shed some load form our own people and give them the needful so that the roots of this nation are well gripped. Though the results won’t come over night but when the results will start to come it will be sweetest fruit the world will taste. I would like to conclude here with an Urdu phrase that “Ek aur kardo tum phir ehsaan sarmere ..thoda Sabarrakh lo tum.. Safar ke Khatam hone Tak.”
