Potato extends gains, up 1.97 per cent on rising demand

NEW DELHI, Dec 17:  Supported by rising demand in the spot market and restricted arrivals from producing regions, potato prices rose further by 1.97 per cent to Rs 943 per quintal in futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in far-month April gained Rs 18.20, or 1.97 per cent to Rs 943 per quintal in business turnover of 92 lots.
In a similar fashion, potato for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 10.60, or 1.13 per cent to Rs 947 per quintal in 165 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in potato prices at futures trade to rising demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions. (PTI)
