SRINAGAR, Feb 08: In its unique initiative of “connect people program”, Department of Posts, organized a Post Master General Walk (PMG) to reach to the door-steps of people and connect with them.
Jammu and Kashmir became the first State in the country to organize the PMG walk. “It is a people connect program that we are organizing today and if it begins in Kashmir, I am sure it will reverberate across the country and many States will follow,” John Samuel, Chief Post Master General said.
Samuel initiated the unique PMG Walk in the commercial areas of Residency Road and Lal Chowk, Srinagar, during which he along with local postmen and other officers of the department interacted with people and delivered letters to some of them.
Samuel also said, it is not people coming to post offices, but post offices going to people, and the department is trying its best to make it ‘Good to great’ by modernizing and computerizing its offices throughout the State.
“The Postal Department will organize a ‘Post Office Festival’ next month at the skiing resort of Gulmarg,” Samuel announced.
