JAMMU, July 8: Porters of ‘Operation Vijay’ today held a protest against Pakistan, separatists of Kashmir and China at Akhnoor.
Scores of porters who volunteered to help army under the banner of ‘Tanda Tiger Force’ during Kargil war 1999, today assembled at Akhnoor and raised slogans against separatists in Kashmir, Pakistan and China.
They criticized separatists for their anti-national activities and demanded legal action against them. They also condemned Pakistan for cease fire violations at Gulpur area of Poonch, where a couple was killed and three others injured today.
Enraged over Pakistan and separatists’ statements in favour of slain terrorist, porters of Kargil war expressed their solidarity with the security forces who gave a befitting reply to the Pakistani Army’s shelling in Poonch. They demanded another surgical strike against Pakistan across LoC in opposite Poonch.
Enraged over opposing Chinese Army’s ingress in Doklam Plateau, they shouted Pro-Army and anti-China slogans and sought immediate return of the Chinese Army from Doklam. Challenging both Pakistan and China they shouted that their age may have advanced but their spirits are as high as they were in 1999.
They were ready to serve the nation as long as they were alive, they shouted. They supported Defence Minister Arun Jailtley’s statement that India of 2017 is not India of 1962 saying that porters of 2017 are not the porters of 1999. Shouting slogans against Pakistan and China, they sought immediate vacation of PoJK, Gilgit-Baltistan and Doklam Plateau.
Prominent among those who participated in the protest include Thakur KP Singh, Vijay Saraf, Davinder Singh, Vijay Kumar, Joginder Kumar, Babu Ram, Chaman Lal, Abhimanyu and Janak Raj Bamal. The protest continued for more than 3 hours.
