Poor traffic regulation in Poonch, Rajouri: Rana

MENDHAR,  July 7: Senior National Conference leader and Member Legislative Assembly Mendhar,  Javed Rana today called for a better traffic management system in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch raising concern on rising  number of accidents and poor state of affairs of Transport ministry.
In a press statement here, MLA Mendhar said that role of all sections of society is urgent need of hour for a better traffic management system in hilly Pir Panjal region.
“No Helmet, No Petrol’ order should be issued and be implemented in strict manner ” MLA said while raising concern on rising number of  two wheeler accidents. He said  ‘ No Helmet, No Petrol ‘ step can act as a preventive one to save precious lives in two wheeler accidents.
Rana also said that multiple factors including bad condition of roads, over loading, rash driving by drivers led to road accidents and every section of society need to play it’s role in checking accidents.
The NC leader also focussed on a futuristic plan for traffic management in area which should include construction of multi storey parking slots, more strict procedure before issuing driving licenses, automated  red light barriers on busy places.
“Recently, Transport Ministry assured for providing more buses in Rajouri and Poonch which is urgent requirement to tackle problem of passenger overloading but promise fell flat and wait is yet to get over, ” the MLA added
While lauding  the efforts of  Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, in which he constituted teams for safety audit of roads, Rana called for similar efforts in Poonch district too for making roads safer.
“District Police authorities should also keep vigil to ensure that fake production of  driving licenses, as surfaced in Poonch recently, is checked so that a man gets driving license only after following due process ” MLA maintained.
