JAMMU, July 18: Castigating the Union Government and the J&K administration for totally mishandling the COVID-19 situation right from abrupt announcement of lockdown by Prime Minister to its equally abrupt unlocking, Congress leader and AICC member, Mohinder Bhardwaj said that the mindless and piecemeal approach of the Government has caused immense miseries to the people particularly living in rural areas and border villages.
“There had been no proper planning in reaching out to the deprived and poor sections of the society or taking care of the needs of the farmers during the time of either harvesting or sowing seasons. And also, the resultant unemployment due to unplanned lockdown has added to their miseries,” Bhardwaj said during a food distribution camp at Bishnah.
Bhardwaj accompanied by Ashok Dubey (organizing secretary PCCI), Digesh Jamwal, Kirpal Singh and other party leaders of Bishnan tehsil presented food packets to more than 100 poor needy families and a wheel chair to a physically challenged lady. The food packets contained essential eatables including dry ration and other items necessary for cooking.
The AICC member wondered as to why is the UT administration turning a blind eye to the hardships being faced by these sections of the society and has done nothing till date to either provide regular supply of food or generate employment for them. The lofty promises being made by the leaders of the BJP and the administration through speeches and advertisements will not help solving the problem, he added.
He assured the people of the area that Congress is committed to their welfare and will take every possible step to help poor and needy. “The events of the past six years have proved beyond any doubt that only Congress cares for all the sections of the society particularly poor, downtrodden, middle class, women, labour, farmers and youth,” he added.
