JAMMU, Mar 27: Federation of Industries Jammu (FoIJ) has alleged that there were poor Medicare facilities for industrial workers in ESI dispensaries across the State.
An urgent meeting of the members of ESI Development Committee was held under the chairmanship of Lalit Mahajan in presence of TS Reen, former president Association of Industries Gangyal Jammu, Shiv Kumar Sharma, State president INTEC, Harbans Chowdhary and Shamshar Chand of BMS to discuss the issue related to poor Medicare facilities for the Industrial workers in the ESI dispensaries due to negative attitude of the Labour Department for non- providing requisite Medical and Para-medical staff.
The members expressed strong resentment during the Hospital Development Committee meet held today at ESI Hospital due to non- seriousness of the of the AMO In- charge ESI of the Labour Department for not attending the meeting since long and in protest the members boycotted the meeting.
It is pertinent to mention here that the issue regarding the shortage of doctors and Para -medical staff in ESI Dispensaries already in the knowledge of the Labour Department but no action has been taken by the Department for the appointment of requisite staff in the dispensaries resulting workers are suffering very badly. The matter was discussed number of times with the concerned officials of the Labour Department as well with the Regional Director ESI Corporation but no action has been taken so far as it is the responsibility of the Labour Department to provide requisite Medical and Para- medical staff in the dispensaries.
Mahajan said it is a matter of great concern that the workers are not getting the treatment even after the payment of ESI contribution from their hard earned money and have no option but to spend money for the treatment from pvt clinics.
It has been pointed out by the representatives of BMS that no doctor is available in the dispensaries after 2 PM in spite of the fact that the Govt time is from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm and the most sufferer are the poor workers who visit the dispensaries.
FoIJ requested the Khurshid Ganai, Advisor to the Governor to intervene into the matter and issue strict instructions to the Labour Department.
