Srinagar, Sept 1: Appal-ling condition of Shankarpora-Dooru link road in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district has irked residents of this remote hamlet.
The locals of the area said that the road is strewn with deep ditches and potholes and accused the Government of ignoring their miseries. “We do not know why authorities have deliberately left our road uneven. Except our road, all the roads in Dooru constituency have been macadamized,” said Bilal Ahmad, a local.
They said a few months back the then R&B Minister Altaf Bukahri promised the construction of a proper road in their area but Government has failed to fulfill the promise.
“The promise came out as a mere joke with emotions and aspirations of local public. The condition of road is worst and not fit for public and vehicular movements. The main victims of this worst condition are students, senior citizens, females and patients. It becomes very difficult for the villagers to reach to worship places as well and the school students have to change the uniform before they reach the school,” they said.
The locals also threatened of dire consequences if their demand was not met. “If they (Government) fail to deliver this time, we will block the roads and national highway,” they warned.
