JAMMU, June 15: As the ongoing protest dharna by the academic arrangement staff in Polytechnics across Jammu division entered into 10th day, their counterparts in Kashmir Polytechnics also went on indefinite pen down strike from today.
The protesting staff under academic arrangement is demanding a regularization policy for them.
Under the banner of All J&K Polytechnics Academic Arrangements Association, the agitating staff of Kashmir division was led by Shahnwaz Qadir (president AJKPAA Kashmir). They held a massive demonstration and also raised slogans in support of their demand.
In Jammu, the protest dharna was led by Atul Sudan, president AJKPAA, Jammu, who
said that they were working since last 15-20 years in the department on the clear vacancies. “It is very shameful that engineer graduates and post graduates who are producing thousands of engineers every day, are today on roads as their future is in dark,” he said and alleged that the Government was  exploiting the educated technocrats and it was  human rights violation that such educated staff has been  engaged on such a merger salary. “Today a labour  is paid more than Rs 350 per day whereas we are paid such merger amount which is not sufficient to meet our daily needs,” he rued.
Others, who addressed the protest dharna, included Deepakshi Sharma, who sought intervention of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti for their regularization. On just Rs 6500 and Rs 7000, we are working even outside home districts and serving in far flung areas like Kishtwar Ramban Doda Poonch etc, she added.
The Association demanded that a regularization policy should be framed for them or JK Civil Services Act should be amended and term academic arrangements should be included in it  to regularize them as they all are working on clear vacancies and  fulfill the required criteria for the said posts.
The protest dharna was joined by Kanav Gupta, Sanjeev Choudary, Rakesh Bhatt, Atul Kodhi, Gagan Partap, Harmeet Kour, Renu Kotwal, Itika Sharma, Pooja Gupta, Renuka Rajput, Noshiba, Ruchi Gupta, Shivali Sharma , Narrotam Sharma, Tarun Gupta, Neena Gupta, Himani Dubey, Sunil Bhatti, Vidhu Puri, Rakesh Kumar, Dupinder, Pankaj Sharma, Chander Deep, Gulshan Kumar, Bupinder Singh, Rajni  and others.
