JAMMU, July 12: Despite heavy rains, agitating academic arrangement staff in all the Government Polytechnics here continued their protest, which entered into 35th consecutive day today.
Under the banner of All J&K Polytechnic Academic Arrangements Association, the protest was led by Umesh Gupta (vice-president AJKPAA, Jammu).
The protesting academic arrangements staff raised slogans in support of their demands, which include regularization policy for them and re-engagement of those ousted on the pretext of transfer.
Umesh Gupta alleged that the State Government was adopting delaying tactics on their genuine demand. He appealed the Chief Minister and Technical Education Minister to taker personal interest into the matter so that a suitable policy for their regularization is formed.
Addressing the media persons on the occasion, Harmeet Kour, of the aggrieved academic arrangements, said that there are 328 vacant posts in Polytechnics where as number of academic arrangements was only around 225. “There are no financial implications on Government as we are working on clear vacancies,” she said and added that the department should understand their issues and seriously carry on the process in a constant pace for their regularization.
She further said that their education qualification was same as of permanent staff and their work was also same but the department was paying above Rs 50,000 to the permanent staff members while they were being paid Rs 6500 to Rs 7000.
The protest was attended by Ankush Gupta, Sanjeev Choudary, Tarun Gupta, Vicky Sharma, Kanav Gupta, Ajay Chib, Rakesh Bhatt, Atul Kodhi, Gagan Partap, Harmeet Kour, Renu Kotwal, Monika Baloria, Pooja Gupta, Renuka Rajput, Noshiba, Ruchi Gupta, Shivali Sharma , Narrotam Sharma, Neena Gupta, Himani Dubey, Sunil Bhatti, Archana Razdan, Bhawana, Vidhu Puri, Dupinder , Neha, Deepakshi, Chanderdeep and Pankaj Gupta.
