JAMMU, June 23: Continuing their protest dharna for the 17th consecutive day, the academic arrangement staff of Government Polytechnics in Jammu held a strong protest demonstration today.
During the protest dharna, being held under the banner of All J&K Polytechnics Academic Arrangements Association, the protesters raised slogans in support of their demand of regularization policy for them.
As academic arrangement staff of various colleges from Jammu division participated in the dharna, teaching work remained suspended in all the Polytechnics.
Addressing media persons at the dharna venue, AJKPAA Jammu vice president, Ankush Gupta, alleged that the Department of Technical Education was not bothered about those who have given 25 years of their youth to the department. “The department has itself accepted in the Legislative Council that out of 313 posts of Lecturers, 248 are vacant where as out of 89 posts of Demonstrators, 80 posts are vacant and the academic arrangements are engaged against these clear vacancies, who are the real pillars of the Technical Education Department in running 24 Polytechnics smoothly,” he said.
The Association leaders alleged that the department deliberately used the term academic arrangements to deprive them from the regularization benefits of J&K Civil Services Act 2010. They appealed the Technical Education Minister to intervene into their matter as the department was not serious regarding them. They also warned that their demand of including them into JK Civil Services Act or to frame regularization policy for them should be addressed earlier otherwise they will intensify their stir.
Those who addressed the gathering include Vicky Sharma, Bhupinderjeet Kour, Priya Bandhana, Pritima Gandotra, Ajay Chib, Neha Dhar, Sonalini, Kanav Gupta, Sanjeev Choudary, Rakesh Bhatt, Atul Kodhi, Gagan Partap, Deepakshi Sharma, Harmeet Kour, Renu Kotwal, Itika Sharma, Pooja Gupta, Renuka Rajput, Ruchi Gupta and many others.
