Political renegades trying to divide Kashmiris: Karra

SRINAGAR, Nov 25: Expressing dismay over the dangerous and dissentious discourse being reintroduced in the State politics for electoral gains, senior PDP leader and Member Parliament, Tariq Hameed Karra today said some parties are not only patronizing political renegades but are trying to revive the Ikhwan culture to divide Kashmiris and have foothold in Kashmir.
“Unfortunately, some political parties have started re-activating Ikhwanis for using them as tools to get foothold in Kashmir politics”, Karra said while addressing a series of election rallies in Kulgam and Noorabad Assembly segments to enlist support for the party candidates Nazir Ahmad Laway and Abdul Majid Padroo.
“The massive effort that had gone into creating a new atmosphere of peace, reconciliation and resolution in and around J&K seems at a real risk of going waste due to the devious machinations being reintroduced into Kashmir politics,” he said and added that in the absence of a sustained political and administrative effort Kashmir is unfortunately again being pushed into the vortex of political uncertainty.
Karra said it is a challenge for the conscious citizens of the State in general and the youth in particular to foil the dodgy designs of such parties. “I am sure the emancipated voters won’t allow anybody to browbeat them or fiddle with their vote,” he said and added these parties are trying to employ all the overt and covert manipulative methods to tactically rig the polls.
Karra said the people of the State, irrespective of their age, gender, status or the political affiliation, have been suffering the disastrous consequences of the political uncertainty and the economic deprivation for the past more than six decades and any nefarious effort to push the State again into quagmire will be confronted by PDP with full political might with the support of the people.
“It is because of the NC’s deceitful and exploitative politics that right wing forces like BJP and RSS have now arrived at our door with their dangerous agenda for Kashmir,” he said and added that only PDP can confront this onslaught if it gets a decisive mandate.
