Sir,
This has reference to the article ‘Policy Paradox and worsening situation’ DE Sept 8, 2017.
First of all, I would like to appreciate the author for depicting the current situation of Kashmir with facts. The present narrative in Kashmir is proceeding towards a grave outcome.
But the article does not suggest any solution to this problem. All the Govts have been beating around the bush. Instead of curing this disease, the Govts have been treating it. Certain concrete steps should be taken by the Govt. Only the writ of law should prevail. Article 370 should be revised and it should be ensured that most of the laws of Central Govt be applied in State without much distortion e.g. the amendment that incorporated the word secular in Indian constitution has not been accepted by the State legislature likewise anti corruption laws of state differ from Centre again. Healing touch policies need to be continued but not at the cost the other parts of state (Jammu, Ladakh).
These are some of the solutions in my view that need to be encouraged by the Govt.
Yours etc…
