JAMMU, Dec 19: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar today said that policing at grass root level in the State would be revamped to enhance proficiencies of cops and to develop confidence in public.
While addressing meetings of police officers at Doda and Kishtwar today, the DGP said that besides fighting terrorism, it is priority of the force to enhance the professional capabilities to ensure rule of law in the State. Community policing is mandatory to boost public confidence which would help in fighting against crime and social evils, he added.
Referring to the criminal activities, DGP stressed upon the officers to brace up with a missionary spirit to fight against drug abuse and other social evils from the society which are the big challenges of the present time. He asked for crime mapping with intent to establish pattern and factors of crime, which could lead to identity of criminals. He asked the officers working in field to take a pledge for serving the society with missionary spirit and maintain the dignity of force.
Urging for better policing, DGP said that public grievances at grass root level need to be dealt on priority and patiently, adding that people have great expectations from JKP being first respondent to their problems. “Public service is our prime concern and we have to remain vigilant at all times for helping of people”, he added.
During the meetings, DGP sought reports from the respective District Superintendents of Police and SDPOs working in the field on law and order and security scenario in the twin districts. He called upon the cops to ensure close synergy at each level for achieving desired results on ground.
He disclosed that welfare of cops has been given priority and various issues have been sorted out.
The IGP Jammu Zone, Danish Rana gave a detailed briefing about the security situation in twin districts, followed by power point presentations by Range DIG and District Superintendents of Police.
Among others, the durbars and meetings were attended by DIG, Doda Range, Nissar Ahmed, SSPs, Zahid Naseem Manhas, Sandeep Wazir, Addl. SPs, Abdul Qayoom, Vinay Kumar, SDPOs and other police officers of twin districts.
