Srinagar, Dec 1 : Police today arrested a man for the alleged murder of a man whose body was found under mysterious conditions at Zaloora village in Sopore area of Baramulla district.
An official said that this morning, the family of Reyaz Ahmed Mir, 48, of Zaloora village filed a missing report about him. A case was registered and investigation was taken and his body was recovered from a trench. Later, in the evening police arrested an accused in the murder of Mir.
A police party searched for him following which his body was found under mysterious circumstances near his house. The body was taken to the Sub District Hospital Sopore for the necessary medical procedures. Later, it was handed over to the family for conducting last rites.
Reyaz’s dead body was recovered from a small water-filled trench. Relatives of Mir said Reyaz went out of his house at around 12 O’clock, while they tried hard to search for him but he couldn’t be traced.
The family alleged that Reyaz was murdered. “Despite his family tensions (Altercations with his wife), Reyaz was very much concerned about his daughters, a son and would go to any extent for their safety and concerns. He was a pious, religious man,” the neighbours said.
The locals, however, stated that Reyaz was attacked by his in-laws a few days ago.
The relatives as well as neighbours of Reyaz urged the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla and SSP Sopore to personally intervene into the matter and take strict action against the involved persons.
