Police solves four theft cases, recover stolen property worth Rs 12 lakh

JAMMU, Feb 6: In a major crackdown on criminals, Jammu and Kashmir Police have successfully solved four theft cases and recovered stolen property worth Rs12 lakh.
In one of the cases, the police solved a telecom equipment theft at an Indus Towers site in Chak Jaffer.
The officers arrested one Mohammad Arif Raina and Uttam Kumar, recovering stolen equipment, including an RRU, from Gharota.
As per a police official, this gang was involved in several telecom equipment thefts across the Jammu district, and further recoveries are expected as the investigation continues.
Uttam Kumar, who has a criminal history, was also involved in similar cases in Gujarat, said the police official.
Another significant breakthrough came with the resolution of a jewellery theft in Mishriwala.
The police official said that a 13-year-old minor and two associates had stolen approximately 10 tolas of gold worth Rs 7 lakh.
The stolen jewellery, according to him, was sold to a goldsmith in Deheran Khour.
The police recovered the jewellery, along with Rs 6 lakh in cash and arrested the goldsmith.
The juveniles were taken into protective custody, marking an important success in curbing organized theft crimes.
In a more unusual case, the police solved the theft of a calf in Purkhoo.
As per the police official, the officers quickly acted on a complaint from Anita Sharma, arresting Rohit Kumar and Shamsher Singh alias Pippy, and recovered the stolen calf, which was then returned to its rightful owner.
The police also made headway in the Akhnoor area, busting a cattle-lifting gang.
There, two suspects were arrested, and a buffalo and a horse were recovered from their possession.
This gang has been active in Akhnoor and Gharota, and further recoveries are anticipated as investigations continue, said the police official.
All these operations were carried out under the supervision of SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh.
