KATHUA, Aug 17 : Continuing its war on drugs to contain the spread of narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances within the district, Kathua Police under the guidance of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal- today seized approximately 10 kilograms of poppy straw like narcotics in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur near Railway Bridge area. One drug peddler was arrested, one vehicle(Mahindra Bolero) along with narcotics was seized on spot.
Police said a team led by Inspector, Vijay Kotwal, SHO Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP, DAR Kathua, Sukhdev Singh during patrolling and checking duty in its jurisdictional area near Railway Bridge Lakhanpur noticed one suspicious vehicle (Mahindra Bolero) bearing Registration Number PB30Q-9076 which was being driven by a person namely Tejinder Singh son of Bhupinder Singh of Rangian tehsil Dehlon district Ludhiana Punjab enrouted from Srinagar towards Punjab side was signalled to stop for checking.
During checking approximately 10 kilograms of poppy straw like narcotics was recovered from his possession. Thereafter all the recovered narcotics along with one vehicle was seized and one person was arrested. A case vide FIR No. 72/2022 U/S 8/15/ NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Lakhanpur and further investigation is underway.
