JAMMU, Apr 22: Jammu Police will seek custody of notorious gangster Sanjay Kumar Sharma alias Sanju for sustained interrogation including places where he took shelter during past about 15 years of his hiding.
Sanju, a resident of Akhnoor, had surrendered before the court a day before, which had sent him to Ambphalla Jail.
Police said Sanju’s role in contractor Raju Chopra murder case has to be investigated and, for the purpose, police will seek his custody from the jail through the court.
Sanju was involved in the murder case of Jagdev Singh alias Jebban at Akhnoor in 1994 after which he was arrested and was lodged in Ambphalla jail. He had killed Sikandar alias Billoo inside the jail in 1997.
Later, he was granted parole by the court. However, he jumped the parole and remained untraced for the past about 15 years now.
During 2006, he was among the accused, who had murdered contractor Raju Chopra, his wife, daughter and a servant at Trikuta Nagar but he remained untraced.
Police said Sanju will be subjected to sustained interrogation in Chopra murder case as well as the persons, who gave him shelter over the past 15 years.
