SRINAGAR, June 4: Police today restricted tourist movement on the Qazipora-Ziran-Batoo-Mulbangil-Hajibal route in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district with immediate effect, citing safety concerns.
A police spokesperson said police had noticed an increase in tourist movement towards the interior areas of Mulbangil and Batoo along the Hajibal-Babareshi axis,
“The route is not part of the notified tourist circuit and passes through remote areas lacking adequate tourist support and emergency response facilities,” he said.
Police have advised hotel owners, travel agencies, tour operators, taxi operators, tourist guides and other stakeholders not to facilitate or promote visits to the restricted area, the spokesperson said.
Police teams have been deployed to enforce the restrictions and legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the directions, the spokesperson added.
Tourists have been urged to visit only approved tourist destinations in the Tangmarg-Gulmarg area and cooperate with the authorities in ensuring their safety, the spokesperson said.
