Police rescues 34 bovines

POONCH, May 9: The police nabbed a smuggler and rescued 34 bovine animals from his possession in Mendhar area of Poonch district today.
Official sources said that under the supervision of SSP Poonch, Yougal Manhas, the police during wee hours foiled bovine smuggling attempt in the jurisdiction of Police Station Mendhar, and rescued 34 bovines from the clutches of a smuggler.
A team from Police Post Ari , noticed a bovine smuggler trying to take illegally 34 bovines on- foot to Kashmir from Ari, without any valid DM’s permission. During investigation, police party headed by PSI Sushil Kumar under the close supervision of SHO and SDPO Mendhar arrested the bovine smuggler identified as Mohd Farooq, son of Noor Mohd, a resident of Chajjla, Tehsil Mankote, in district Poonch.
A case FIR No. 68/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act, has been registered at Police Station Mendhar and investigation started.
