Police registers 5 FIRs in bovine smuggling, 54 animals rescued

SAMBA, May 7: Intensifying its drive against bovine smugglers in the district, five FIRs have been registered in Police Station Samba and Police Station Ghagwal in different bovine smuggling attempts during early morning hours and 54 bovines in total were rescued from the bovine smugglers.
Police said teams of Police Post (PP) Rajpura and Police Post (PP), Rakh Amb Talli led by their respective Incharges have foiled major bovine smuggling attempts and have rescued 47 bovines which were being smuggled by foot via border road. Police said its teams chased the bovine smugglers but they were successful in escaping while taking advantage of the darkness. All the rescued bovines have been shifted to the safer place.
Police said four different FIRs have been registered in different instances viz. FIR No. 130/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act of PS Samba, FIR No. 131/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act of PS Samba, FIR No. 132/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act of PS Samba and FIR No. 63/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act of PS Ghagwal and further investigation is going on.
Similarly, a police party of Police Post (PP) Mansar headed by Incharge PP Mansar has foiled bovine smuggling attempt and rescued seven bovines which were being smuggled by foot via Mansar-Surinsar road, police said.
A case FIR No. 129/2024 U/S 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started, police said.
