Police pays floral tribute to 4 policemen killed in Sopore IED blast

BARAMULLA: Jammu and Kashmir police paid floral tributes to four policemen who were killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast at Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Saturday.

Official sources here said a wreath-laying ceremony was held in District Police Lines Baramaulla, where floral tributes were paid to the martyrs, identified as Assistant Sub Inspector Irshad Ahmad, Constable Mohammad Amin, Constable Ghulam Nabi and Constable Parvaiz Ahmad.

“Kashmir police chief Muneer Khan-led Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla Imtiyaz Hussain, SSP Sopore Harmeet Singh Mehta and other jawans in laying the floral wreaths on the bodies of the martyrs,” they said.

Among others, they said officers from Army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 179 battalion of the CRPF were present during the ceremony.

The four policemen were killed when militants detonated an IED at Sopore in Baramulla on Saturday. (AGENCIES)
