JAMMU, Nov 30: Police organized a workshop on anti-drug addiction in District Police Line, here.
In the workshop, J&K Chemist and Drug Association, Jammu Chemist Association and Wholesale and Retail Drug Traders participated.
SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal and DySP Headquarters Sugandha Mahajan were present from police side.
Rohit Sharma, State Convenor, J&K Chemist & Drugs Association, Anil Mahajan, Treasure J&K Chemist and Drugs Association, Namen Bali, President, Jammu Chemist Association, Prem Sharma, General Secretary, Jammu Chemist Association and Rajinder Prashad Senior Vice President, Jammu Chemist Association were among 200 members of Associations, who attended the workshop.
The main focus of this programme was to eradicate the drug addiction from the society.
SP Headquarters Jammu sensitized them that SSP Jammu, Dr Sunil Gupta, had launched ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ to prevent the youth from drug addiction under which many seminars have been organized in many education institutions of Jammu district to make aware the students about the drug abuse and its harmful effects in the life.
The association members were requested to co-operate to prevent the youths from drug menace. They were requested not to sell and provide drugs and syringe without proper perceptions of the doctors especially to the youths who are indulging in drug abuse and make misuse of it.
They were asked to share the information with police regarding any drug peddler, illegal supplier and consumers, if they know.
State Convener, J&K Chemist and Drugs Association while speaking on the subject said that they will not sell the drugs without proper perception of the doctor. Their association will fully cooperate with police to curb the drug menace from the society, he added.
President, Chemist Association Jammu said that they will not sell or purchase any un-authorized medicine. There is proper billing system for procurement of drugs and medicines, he said and assured the police that they will share any such type of information as and when they get it.
