Police officer’s wife dies of bullet injury

JAMMU, Feb 26: The wife of a police officer posted in the Chief Minister’s security, died today allegedly after receiving a bullet injury at her residence here at Exchange Road.
“A woman namely Neha Basson, wife of Inspector Vivek Basson, resident of Exchange Road, Jammu, received a bullet injury this afternoon at her residence”, police sources said, adding the injured woman was immediately taken to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where she succumbed to her injuries.
They said that after completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased woman was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites. “In this connection, a case has been registered at police station Pacca Danga and investigations were taken up by SHO, Dheeraj Nagpal”, they added.
According to SDPO City, Deputy SP Varun Jandial, it has come to fore that the woman had received the bullet injury from service revolver of her husband, who is posted in CM security and was present in the house. “However, whether the woman has committed suicide or was shot at by someone is a matter of investigation”, he said, adding, the service revolver of the police officer has been seized.
