Srinagar, Sept 28: Police today arrested 3 people involved in sextortion while hinting at further possible arrests in this regard.
As per details, Srinagar police received a complaint from Nazir Ahmad Rather S/o Late Gh. Nabi Rather R/o Dalwan Chaar-e-Shareef, Budgam on September 27 at Police Station Shergarhi, in which it was stated that some days back, he received a call from one lady, Saba who insisted him to meet for some work.
Accordingly, police said, he met her near Bakshi Stadium Srinagar, after which the said lady took him to her room at Reck Chowk Batamaloo, and started leveling false allegations.
“In the meantime, 03 other men (associates of the lady) forcibly entered the room and started making a video. Then she along with her accomplices started blackmailing him and he fell prey to a well-planned conspiracy of sextortion,” police said.
In this regard, police said, case FIR No. 76/2022 U/S 34, 384, 120-B, 506 IPC was registered in Police Station Shergarhi, and the investigation was set into motion.
As per police, 03 accused who have been arrested include Shaista Bashir @ Saba D/o Bashir Ahmad Dar W/O Aijaz Ahmad Ganaie R/o Galwanpora A/P Narkara Budgam, Jahangir Ahmad Dar S/o Khazer Muhammad Dar R/o Pethpohru Handwara, and Aijaz Ahmad Ganaie S/o Ghulam Muhammad R/o Galwan pora Hyderpora A/P Narkara Budgam.
“There are some other victims of this gang and more arrests are expected in the instant case and investigation is going on,” police said.
