Police must be tough with persons breaking law: DGP

SRINAGAR, Oct 2: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh today visited Kargil and Zanskar and chaired meeting of Police and ITBP officers.
DGP took stock of law and order of the district and also reviewed security of the Civil Airport Kargil. He also interacted with public at Zanskar and visited Police Station Zanskar.
DGP Dilbag Singh who was accompanied by IGP Kashmir SP Pani and AIG (Building) PHQ Rayees Mohammad Bhat first visited Kargil. He was received at the Kargil Airport by SSP Kargil Vinod Kumar and other officers of the District.
DGP reviewed the security of the Civil Airport and issued instructions with regard to beefing up of the security. He directed for plugging of the gaps if any.
During his address, the DGP directed the police officers for prompt and responsible delivery of services to the needed. He added that police must be tough with the persons who break the law but must be helpful and friendly to those who abide by laws of the land. He impressed upon the police officers to enhance their reputation which helps in solution of various problems during policing.
DGP directed for providing all necessary and possible help to the public. He impressed upon the officers to continue their efforts for enhanced coordination and synergy at different levels.
Later, the DGP visited Zanskar where he interacted with public and also inspected the Police Station.
During the meeting, DGP said that peoples’ cooperation in maintenance of law and order and security is of prime importance. The people of Zanskar put forth various demands. DGP assured that the grievances concerning the J&K Police would be solved immediately and those grievances such as road connectivity, internet etc., which pertain to other Government departments would be referred to concerned for early redressal.
DGP also inspected the Police Station Zanskar and enquired about the work, functioning, challenges and problems of the police personnel over there. DGP was briefed by the concerned officers who also sought some assistance for creative facilities.
