Police Hospital organises screening camp on Hypertension

JAMMU, May 30: Police Hospital Jammu here today organized an awareness session cum screening camp on Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) in collaboration with Department of General Medicine, AIIMS Vijaypur.
The camp was organised under the supervision of Dr. Meenakshi Kotwal, Medical Superintendent Police Hospital Jammu.
The programme started with welcome address by Dr. Sanjay Sharma.
Doctors of Department of General Medicine, AIIMS Vijaypur were honoured by flower pots by Dr. Meenakshi Kotwal.
Dr. Taranpreet Kour, Asstt. Professor, Deptt. of Medicine, AIIMS Vijaypur, Dr. Kiran and Dr. Ritu addressed cops present during the camp and gave them a detailed briefing about hypertension, its causes, symptoms and treatment.
In order to have better understanding of the disease of hypertension, a skit was also performed by the paramedical staff of AIIMS Vijaypur.
Dr. Meenakshi Kotwal stressed upon the participants to strictly act upon the advice given by the visiting doctors and also carry the message forward and share the same with their family members and co-workers.
All the participants (cops from different units of JKAP/IRP Bns. of District Jammu) were medically checked by the visiting doctors of AIIMS Vijaypur and out of 99 cops, 56 were found hypertensive and were advised proper treatment and regular follow up.
Towards the end of the camp the Doctors and paramedical staff of AIIMS Vijaypur were given certificates of participation by Medical Superintendent of Police Hospital Jammu.
