Patil, Lamba lead ‘Beti Adhikaar’ rally

JAMMU, Mar 8: The police foiled the Mahila Congress protest march to Raj Bhawan, taken out in connection with ‘ Beti Adhikaar’ rally here today.
Senior AICC leader and In-charge J&K affairs, Rajni Patil (MP) along with AICC spokesperson, Alka Lamba, PCC chief GA Mir, working president Rãmân Bhalla, Mula Ram, chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, former Minister Yogesh Sawhney and others were stopped today from marching head along with hundreds of Mahila Congress workers led by president Indu Pawar, towards Raj Bhawan at Indira Gandhi Chowk Jammu.
The police stopped a strong protest march of J&K Mahila Congress “Beti Adhikaar Rally” from proceeding ahead from Indira Chowk , towards LG house, lodging their protest over women rights, price rise, record unemployment and other burning issues.
The march at the same time, coincided with the women day, to highlight the rights and issues of women and seek their due rights and dignity. The protestors raised slogans of “Ladki Hun , Lad Sakti Hun” the slogan coined by Priyanka Gandhi .
Organised by J&K Mahila Congress , the march started from the statue of former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi where they offered floral petals to the martyred Prime Minister, the symbol of women empowerment and unity and integrity of country.
AICC Incharge, Rajni Patil led the March along with Alka Lamba, PCC president G A Mir, Rãmân Bhalla,Mula Ram, Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Kanta Bhan,Rajnish Sharma, Hari Singh Chib, Gurbachan Rana, Udey Chib , Karan Bhagat, Pawan Raina, Shashi Sharma, Ritu Chaudhary,Vandana Makhnotra and other prominent Mahila Congress leaders.
Addressing the protestors, Patil lashed out at the BJP for failure to fulfill the promise of ensuring women security which will happen with mere slogans but actually guaranteeing mahila security. What has happened in different parts of country against the women under BJP regime as shameful.
Referring to the unprecedented price rise and record unemployment especially in Jammu and Kashmir, she said that Modi government has utterly failed to bring the prices under control. The common man is suffering due to unprecedented prices of all essential commodities and unreasonable taxes. The women are worst sufferers under BJP regime.
The J&K tops in the unemployment in the country and the educated youth are frustrated due to wrong policy of the government. Lakhs of educated youth’s are without jobs in Jammu and Kashmir while the daily wagers, need based, contractual and other temporary employees are protesting for regularisation.
She said that it was Congress which guaranteed 33 percent reservation to women in the three tiers Panchayat Raj in the country and it stands committed to the rights and empowerment of women. “Our leader Rahul Gandhi has assured to give half of the women Chief Ministers , when Congress comes to power.
She regretted that people of Jammu and Kashmir have lost their status as state and rights and deprived of the democracy. She pleaded for restoration of statehood and early elections in Jammu and Kashmir to restore democracy to the people. Congress will continue fighting on streets for the rights of people of J&K.
Alka Lamba lambasted the Modi government for false promises on the issue of women security and protection besides unprecedented price rise and record unemployment.
