SAMBA, Feb 18: In continuation to its drive against bovine smuggling, district police Samba foiled attempts to smuggle bovines by rescuing 30 animals in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of Police Station, Ghagwal.
A police party of PS Ghagwal while performing routine vehicle checking duty at naka NH Tapyal, signalled to stop a Canter vehicle having registration No JK02CB-0129 coming from Kathua side and heading towards Valley. Instead of stopping the vehicle, the driver accelerated its speed and abandoned it at few meters away from the naka. However driver managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness.
During checking of the vehicle, 12 cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. All the cattle were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot. In this connection, a case FIR No. 35/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation started.
Later in another similar incident, police party of PS Ghagwal while performing routine vehicle checking duty at naka NH Tapyal intercepted a truck having registration number, JK02AR-0566 which was moving towards Valley. During checking of the vehicle, a total 18 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission.
The accused driver identified as Surjeet Kumar, S/o Sat Paul R/o Tanda, RS Pura, Jammu has been arrested on spot. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was also seized on spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 37/2021 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at PS Ghagwal and investigation.
