SRINAGAR, June 2: Police resorted to lathicharge and foiled an attempt of taking out march by clerical cadre employees, who were protesting for removal of pay anomalies.
A few employees sustained minor injuries in the Police action while a number of their leaders were detained for some time at Kothi Bagh Police Station.
The protest march was taken out under the banner of Jammu Kashmir Ladakh All Department Clerical Staff Association. The clerical cadre from various Government Departments from Jammu, Kathua, Rajouri, Udhampur, Doda, Reasi, Ramban, Kishtwar, Poonch, and from Kashmir Province was taking part in the protest.
According to Sukhbir Singh, general secretary of the Association, the clerical cadre was agitating in a democratic manner demanding the Government to issue orders for removal of Pay anomalies when Police resorted to lathicharge.
Earlier, the protest rally was addressed by Ravi Singh Bhau, Ravi Kumar, Manohar Singh, Balbir Singh, Akhter Hussain, Onkar Sharma, J R Sagar and others, who highlighted the issue regarding removal of pay anomalies. They alleged that despite recommendation by the Pay Anomaly Committee, the Government has back tracked and not honoured its commitment.
“The State Government is intentionally delaying the issuance of orders for removal of Pay anomalies of Clerical Cadre and is compelling the Jammu, Kashmir Ladakh All Department Clerical Staff Association to revive the suspended agitation,” they said.
