Police crackdown on militant propagandists on social media

SRINAGAR, Nov 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police with the help of service providers have launched a major crackdown against those who are doing militant propaganda on social media.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a wreath laying of a Central Reserve Police Force personnel who was killed last night at Pulwama in a militant attack, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, S P Pani, said that with the help of the service providers police will nab those who are doing militant propaganda on social media.

Pani said that the propaganda on social media of recent crimes is equal to these crimes committed by the militants. “The killings are the reflection of the terror crimes and these are gruesome crimes of the terrorists and who else is doing propaganda on social media about these killings is also committing a crime”, he said.
The IGP said that the Police will nab these social media propagandists with the help of service providers. “The case has been registered and whosoever is propagating the content as there are some handlers that are propagating it, we are investigating it and I am sure that with the cooperation of service providers, we will be able to nab them”, he said.
It may me mentioned here that two men were killed in South Kashmir last week and their video and pictures went viral on social media. Nadeem Manzoor of Safanagri village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district was abducted on Thursday by militants and was later killed.
A Hizbul Mujahideen circulated video of his killing went viral on social media in which militants were shown pumping a volley of bullets into Nadeem Manzoor.
Similarly picture of throat slit body of Huzaif Ashraf, son of Mohammad Ashraf alias Raja Kandur of Manzgam Kulgam, who was also abducted and killed went viral on social media.
When asked about the women couriers that have been nabbed by security forces last week, Pani said “investigation is going on and when the findings will came, we will share it”.
Special DG CRPF, VSK Kaumudi when asked about the abductions and killing of people by militants in South Kashmir said that security forces are working on targets and they will achieve it.
“We are here for making peace and normalcy. The killing of these people is being watched and there is nothing that can be added to it. CRPF and other security forces are working as per the target that is fixed and clear, we will be working according to that”, he added.
And in the meantime, militants tonight abducted a man in South Kashmir district of Shopian.
Militants entered into the house of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani at Batamurran Keller Shopian and abducted his son identified as Pervaiz Ahmad Wani a tractor driver by profession.
This is the seventh abduction sine last week. Last week militants abducted six people from South Kashmir and two of them were killed while four were let off.
