JAMMU, Dec 3: Crime Branch, Jammu today booked a Police couple for duping the fellow officials and misappropriating huge amount of money as well as gold by alluring their victims of high rate of interest.
A case under FIR number 23/2014, under Sections 420, 406, 120-B RPC has been registered against Woman Selection Grade Constable Nirmal Kour alias Nirmal Saini (IR-15th Bn) and her husband Selection Grade Constable Mohinder Singh Saini (14th Bn) for cheating their fellow officials.
The case was registered on the complaints of two Woman Constables Veena Devi and Sabeena Akhter of IR 15th Bn who alleged that the accused Nirmal Kour and her husband Mohinder Singh Saini had taken Rs 2 lakh from them with the promise of repaying the money with an interest of Rs 5000/- per month. However, neither the interest nor the principle money was paid to them.
During the course of enquiry, conducted by the Commanding Officer IR-15th Bn. it was found that the accused Nirmal Kour in connivance with her husband Mohinder Singh Saini had collected a huge amount of cash and gold not only from the complainants but also from other women officials of the 15th Bn and Security wing after alluring them for high rate of interest and gold loan facilities. Using this technique, the accused couple collected amount to the tune of Rs 1.50 crores and gold about 300 gms.
According to SSP Crime Branch, Jammu, Mubassir Latifi, a number of other persons have also been duped and cheated by this charlatan couple. He said that thorough investigation has been initiated into the matter to unearth the whole racket involved in cheating and duping the innocent and gullible people.
