Srinagar, Oct 6: Police today said that its drive against drug menace continued in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and multiple raids were conducted by special squads.
A police spokesman said that the special squad conducted number of raids at various places like Dogam and Okhoo in the district. “During raids huge quantity of cannabis plants (raw material of charas) kept for drying by the drug peddlers was destroyed or burnt. At number of places searches were conducted and contraband narcotic substance was recovered and cases were registered against the culprits,” he said.
The spokesman said that 26.9 Kilograms of cannabis leaves (raw material of charas) was recovered from the house of Ghulam Rasool Reshi at Dogam, four Kilograms of Charas powder was been recovered from the house of Abdul Hamid Mir at Dogam, 16.6 Kilograms of cannabis leaves (raw material of charas) was recovered from the house of Nissar Ahmad Reshi at Dogam Kakapora and 2 kilograms of Charas was recovered from the house of Muhammad Sultan Allieat Okhoo.
During today’s raids, 122 Kilograms of cannabis powder (Raw material of charas) and 7 kilograms of poppy straw were seized by special squad during search operation at four places in Patipora village of the district, the spokesman said. SSP Pulwama has expressed his thanks to general public of these areas especially youth for extending their whole hearted support and cooperation to the police team in eradication of drug menace.
