JAMMU, July 21: A constable of Indian Reserve Police today allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Purkhoo area of city outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, Vijay Kumar, a constable in Armed Police 14 Battalion this afternoon consumed some poisonous substance at his residence in Garhi (Purkhoo).
“Finding him in unconscious condition, the family members rushed him to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors”, the spokesman said, adding the body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem.
He said that Kanachak police had taken cognizance of the matter.
