A police official said that one SMC employee, aggrieved by challan on not having HSRP, came back and broke a traffic booth and assaulted the cops on duty. An FIR has been registered in Police Station Sherghari against three SMC employees.
Traffic cops and the officials of the Enforcement wing of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) were today seen involved in a verbal duel near Iqbal Park after which they later demolished the picket of the cops stationed at the spot.
As per eye witnesses, the officials of the SMC told the cops that the picket was erected illegally and that there was no permission sought from the concerned. The same was not accepted by the cops who demanded that they should have been served with a notice before the action was initiated.
The involved individuals of the Traffic department as well as those from the SMC had a heated argument in which they took the shape of “assault”.
However, the police said that one of the SMC officials was challaned for not having the HSRP, who, the police said, came back and demolished the traffic booth. It also said that an FIR in this regard has been registered.
