Police arrests 6 drug peddlers with heroin

KATHUA, Jan 7: In its recent action against drug dealings and to neutralise the activities of drug peddlers within the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today recovered approximately, 5.04 grams of Heroin (Chitta) like narcotics from Khanpur area of Rajbagh Police Station (PS). Six persons were arrested and one vehicle along with narcotics was seized on the spot.
Police said a team led by Sub Inspector (SI), Swaran Singh in charge Police Post (PP) Marheen under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan during patrolling duty in its jurisdictional area near Khanpur noticed one suspicious vehicle (Mahindra Bolero) bearing Registration Number, JK08K-1923 which was enrouted towards Link Road Khanpur. When it reached near Banyari Pul, it was directed to stop for checking. On physical checking of one Rajesh Singh, son of Subhash Singh of Dharalta tehsil, Billawar, Sandeep Sharma, son of Sat Paul Sharma of Banhore tehsil Mahanpur, Pankaj Sharma, son of Dev Raj of Pallan, tehsil Billawar, Sourav Sharma, son of Subash Chander of Dambra, tehsil Mahanpur, Mukesh Kumar, son of Des Raj of Kupdi tehsil, Mahanpur containing approximately 5.04 grams Chitta like narcotics was recovered from their illegal possession.
All the recovered narcotics was seized and all the six persons were arrested on spot. A case vide FIR No. 04/2022 U/S 8/21/22/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station (PS) Rajbagh while further investigation is underway.
