SRINAGAR, Jan 15: Police today arrested a drug peddler in Tahab area of Pulwama district and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
A police spokesperson said that during naka checking at Circular Road near Tahab Chowk, the naka party intercepted a person identified as Bilal Ahmad Ganaie, son of Bashir Ahmad Ganaie, a resident of Chatapora.
“Upon a thorough search, contraband substances including cannabis (charas choora-like substance) weighing 413.50 grams, one stick of charas weighing 36.5 grams, and charas powder weighing 70 grams were recovered from his possession,” the spokesperson said.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 08/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned police station, and investigation has been taken up. Police have urged the general public to cooperate and share information to help build a drug-free Pulwama.
