PNB Staff Union extends active support to Feb 28 strike

JAMMU, Feb 23: Punjab National Bank Staff Union has extended its active support to the United Federation of Bank Unions (UFBU)’s call for all India level strike on February 28 in support of their demands.
This was announced by Comrade Malkeet Singh, general secretary of PNB Staff Union (J&K), while talking to media persons, here today.
“We oppose Government moves infringing trade union rights, outsourcing permanent jobs, merger of banks and  anti labour reforms,” he said while criticizing the Government policies vis-à-vis trade unions.
On the occasion,  Malkeet Singh also highlighted the UFBU demands, which include legitimate compensation of employees for extra hours of work performed on demonetization, removal of gratuity ceiling under payment of Gratuity Act 1972, early initiation of process of next wage revision of bank employees, implementation of compensation appointment schemes on lines of Central Government, immediate introduction of 5-day banking  and criminal action on willful defaulters.
The Union leader appealed  to all the bank employees to observe strike under the banner of UFBU,  which will be joined by ten lakh employees of Public Sector banks, private banks, Rural banks and  Foreign banks.
