PNB distributes 38 KCCs

PNB Officers distributing Kissan Credit Card at Hiranagar on Friday.

HIRANAGAR, Dec 6: To render focused credit facility to the agriculture sector, especially to the direct agriculture lending, Punjab National Bank under its Special Agriculture Credit Campaign organized Kissan Credit Card disbursement function at Hiranagar. The function was inaugurated by Mohd. Latif Mir, Deputy General Manager, Circle Head J&K Operations, who was accompanied by Mrs. Srishta Devi, SDO, Department of Agriculture. 38 KCC were distributed to the farmers involving a credit outlay of 26 lakhs in the function in which farmers of villages Dhangroli, Hiranagar, Pheru Chak, Sanyal participated.
Speaking at the function, Mohd. Latif Mir said that Bank is keen to bring all those farmers who are desirous of giving boost to their agriculture into the fold of KCC scheme and for that bank has launched a Special Agriculture Credit Campaign from November 1st to December 15th 2013. He informed that Kisan Credit Card Scheme (KCC) is providing adequate and timely support to the farmers for their short-term credit needs for cultivation of crops, post harvest expenses and profitable marketing of their produce. KCC has also helped farmers to buy quality seeds, enhance land use and increase agricultural production, he added. He said that KCC happens to be cheapest credit available from banking system as apart from being hassle-free and accessible to all, KCC, if adjusted within the stipulated time limit, can be available at a meager rate of interest of four percent as the effective Interest rate for a regular repaying borrower availing credit upto 3 lakhs comes down to as low as 4% per annum.
Mrs. Srishta Devi appreciated the Bank’s commitment to reach every unbanked corner of the state by providing Kissan Credit Cards and other agro-based financial products to the farmers of the state. She urged the farmers to avail the maximum benefits of the KCC scheme
R V S Jasrotia, Chief Manager Circle Office Jammu, S S Chib, District Coordinator PNB, R K Rewoo, Manager Hiranagar, Pradeep Atkin, Agriculture Officer of the Bank, Sarpanch Bhola Nath of Sube Chak, Sarpanch Dwaraka Nath of Jangi Chak and large number of beneficiaries and staff members of the Bank were present at the function.
