SRINAGAR, Dec 6: A high level meeting was convened by Minister for Urban Development and Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora to streamline the process of rehabilitation of Dal dwellers on fast track.
It was decided in the meeting that ration cards possessed by the inhabitants of the lake would become the basis for the verification of family strength for the purpose of allotment of plots at Rakh-e-Arth.
It was given out that the Collector LAWDA and Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Srinagar will complete the process of verification immediately and two high level committee meetings will be held every month to clear maximum number of cases by March 2014.
The Minister later visited Shanpora to inspect the Engineering wetland that is spread over 95 kanals of land at the mouth of Meerak Shah Channel for Bio-filtration of water from the catchment area.
Mr. Jora visited Shanpora village to inspect 3700 metres sewerage network and pumping station coming up to connect 250 houses comprising of 2100 persons. The project is expected to be completed at a cost of Rs. 3.5 crores. He directed the concerned LAWDA authorities to complete the project by the end of March 2014.
The Minister directed Geology and Mining Department to lift the ban on quarry of earth in Budgam district immediately so that supply of filling work at Rakh-e-Arth is restored.
He also inspected 125 metres sewerage line that has been laid at Bahrar Hospital.
The Minister later held a meeting with PDD and PHE authorities and directed them to expedite the HT/LT lines at Rakh-e-Arth to provide distribution system in all the bays at Rakh-e-Arth for the facilitation of Dal dwellers who have already been shifted.
