JAMMU, Oct 24: J&K National Panthers Party leader Prof Bhim Singh has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to J&K has given shock to the flood sufferers and Pakistani firing victims as party had given impression that Modi will announce massive package for the State.
Reacting sharply on the so called State visit of the Prime Minister on Diwali, the NPP chief patron questioned Mr Modi’s utter failure to announce the situation created because of unprecedented floods and rains between September 2 and 9, 2014 as national disaster. He said Mr Modi during his visit on Sept 6 to Kashmir had described the devastating floods in the State as national disaster. Even the Supreme Court team during visit had termed the situation as natural calamity.
Prof Singh questioned why the Prime Minister was now avoiding to declare the situation as national disaster. He said the affected people of the State were expecting huge package but announcement of just Rs 570 crore as relief package is just mockery and joke with them. The NPP leader asked why Modi avoided to visit affected areas of Jammu like Saddal in Pancheri, Thannamandi and Nowshera where heavy casualties took place or visit Pakistani firing victims. He described this step of BJP as discriminatory.
