JAMMU, Aug 30: Congress needs those ‘who bow’ while all the powerful leaders are leaving the party one by one, said Tarun Chugh, BJP national general secretary and Prabhari J&K and Ladakh UTs here today while making a scathing attack on party leadership.
Chugh, who along with party Seh Prabhari for J&K was on two days visit of Jammu to participate in district Core Committee meetings of BJP while talking to reporters said Congress is a sinking ship as senior leaders are leaving the party one by one. “It is bereft of policy programme, has neither strong leadership nor roadmap for the country as well as a firm ideology”, he said, adding the senior leaders like Kapil Sibal, Narayan Rane, Shanker Singh Vagela and many others have already left the party.
The BJP national general secretary, while turning tables on Congress leadership said instead of launching the Bharat Jodo campaign the party should first launch Congress Jodo campaign in the country as people don’t consider its leadership. Not to talk of people rejecting the leadership of the party, even Congress MPs, legislators, other leaders and general secretaries don’t have faith in its leadership which comes from only one family, he added.
Chugh said even the Congress vice president, Rahul Gandhi fully knows it that he has no command over party and it is the reason he resigned as Congress president two years back and the party is like a rudderless ship at present.
He ridiculed the Congress saying that it is the party of sycophants and one family worshippers. The Congress is reduced to one family party and anybody challenging that is immediately thrown out, he added.
In the coming elections in J&K, Chugh said, the BJP would form the Government on its own and all other parties including Abdullahs and Muftis would be wiped out.
“The welfare and development policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have brought dramatic change in minds of the people in J&K. People want peace and progress that the Prime Minister has given to J&K”, he added.
Those leaders working at the directions of Pakistans ISI would be thrown out of J&K, he warned. The BJP has become the most popular political party in J&K after abolition of Article 370 and other decisions taken by the Prime Minister, Chugh added.
He said that after abrogation of Article 370, the faith of people in Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has increased and people want BJP to come again to power and our party would form next Government in Jammu and Kashmir on its own. He said BJP is working in proactive mode and is holding regular meetings on J&K at Central as well as local levels to make BJP even stronger.
Chugh also focused on the development spree going on in the both regions of Jammu & Kashmir by the Modi Government and said that J&K is witnessing the never before development with the help of liberal economic packages under the Modi Government. He talked of Rs 7,750 crore provisioned under Jal Jeevan Mission for achieving the objective of 100% piped water supply to each household; Rs 357 crore for Solid Waste Management in two Municipal Corporations and 76 ULBs and Rs 1,313 crore for PRIs/ULBs adding that these are only few to quote which are accorded to J&K.
During the meetings, he held interactions with the senior party leaders from every district asking them to strengthen the party at grassroots level. He asked them to increase their level of activity in their areas and increase direct communication with the masses.
Talking to media, BJP senior leader and co-incharge of Jammu and Kashmir, Ashish Sood, said that the senior leadership of the Congress party has failed to manage their “internal” party affairs, which has forced their leaders to leave the party in this way.
Sood’s reaction came after 64 senior Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, including former Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, resigned from the party in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad today.
“In Congress, a single family controls everything, and no effort has been made to address the issue in the party” Sood said.
“While the Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir is busy fighting among themselves, we are striving to advance the development process in UT” ,he further said.
While asking about Ghulam Nabi Azad quitting the Congress party, he said “Azad is free to find his own party and free to engage in politics in Jammu and Kashmir, but the BJP will undoubtedly raise concerns and issues during his time in the office”.
“Why do the people of Jammu and Kashmir could not get benefit from the Centre-sponsored initiatives during 70 years of Congress rule? Why were certain people denied their voting rights?” he asked.
Sood said, “the BJP is practising politics of development by including everyone, as opposed to the family-based politics practised by the Congress, N.C and PDP.”
Tarun Chugh accompanied by J&K BJP president, Ravinder Raina, general secretary (Org.) Ashok Koul, Seh-Prabhari J&K BJP Ashish Sood, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, former Minister, Sat Sharma, general secretary, Vibodh Gupta and other senior party leaders addressed series of meetings at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, here.
Senior party leaders from Nowshera, Rajouri, Poonch, Jammu and Jammu West participated in separate Core Group meetings.
Raina while addressing the meeting laid stress on the rigorous functioning by the party activists for the growth of the organization. He stressed that today, the party has grown its extensive reach to everyone due to the ground level functioning and now it is the right to further intensify the good work by the party activists.
