JAMMU, Aug 30: Former MLA and president of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Mahila Congress Indu Pawar exhorted party workers to mobilize people for September 4 rally against the price rise.
Addressing a series of meetings of Mahila Congress workers in different parts of the Jammu region, Pawar said that Congress is going to organize a large rally against the price rise in Delhi on September 4.
Senior party leaders will address the ‘Mehangai Par Halla Bol’ rally in Delhi and would be present at the Kanyakumari-to-Kashmir Bharat Jodo Yatra three days later, on September 7. The Padayatra will cover 3,500 km across 12 States and two Unions Territories.
The rally will send a powerful message to the insensitive BJP-led Government at the Centre. She targeted the Centre over inflation and stated that Goods and Services Tax (GST) on essential items had placed an additional burden on the common people, who are already reeling under rising prices.
“The Central Government has also levied GST on milk products, increasing its prices,” she said, adding, “The Central Government is least bothered in providing relief to citizens from this inflation…we are protesting against this.”
Mahila Congress president lambasted the BJP led Government for its failure to control prices. She said that instead of controlling prices of essential commodities BJP led NDA government at the Centre is hiking the prices of all items.
