SRINAGAR, June 07: As a part of continued efforts of Omar led Government to provide every basic amenity to the Kashmiri migrant employees, the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla on Thursday visited Mattan Migrants Transit camp and inspected the facilities being provided to the migrant employees in the complex.
The Minister was accompanied by the District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Farooq Ahmed Shah, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, R. K. Pandita, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, G. M. Dar, senior district officers and a number of congress leaders.
On the occasion, the Minister was informed that at present 99 Kashmiri Pandit Migrant Employees are putting up in 17 quarters constructed at a cost of Rs 1.08 crore. He was informed that the employees are facing difficulties on different accounts like accommodation, sanitation and medical facilities.
The Minister taking notice of the problems faced by the migrants, on the spot nominated Naib Tehsildar Migrants as Nodal Officer and directed him to keep a close co-ordination with camp employees and put forth all their problems before the Relief &Rehabilitation Commissioner for immediate redressal.
Regarding the shortage of residential facilities, Mr Bhalla asked the district authorities to identify the private accommodation so that the migrant employees are accommodated comfortably till the construction of the new quarters. He also issued directions to the district authorities to identify the State land for the purpose. He also asked the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag to look into other problems of the employees like sanitation, providing of clean drinking water, installation of ration depot and medical facilities in the camp.
Meanwhile, the Minister also enquired about the arrangements made for Shri Amarnath Ji yatra starting from June 25.
The Deputy Commissioner informed the Minister that all the arrangements are in place and land for basic camps has already been identified at a number of places including Qazigund, Vassu, Mattan and other places.
Later, a large number of Sarpanchs and Panchs met the Minister and apprised him of their problems.
Mr Raman Bhalla on the spot issued instructions to Deputy Commissioner Anantnag to sort out all the issues immediately. However, he emphasized on the Panchs and Sarpanchs to work with dedication as they are the real representatives of the rural masses and asked them to play their role in the overall development of the rural areas.
The Minister later convened a high level meeting in his office chamber, which was attended by Minister of State for Revenue, Home and PHE, Nasir Aslam Wani, Chairman, SSRB, Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner and Special Secretary Revenue to discuss the implementation of PM’s Employment package fully.
